Why it matters in a business
An office chair is used by the same person for more than 1,800 hours a year; a reception sofa greets every visitor who walks through the door. Nobody cleans them inside, and over time they build up sweat, dust, grease from hands and coffee stains that show in meetings and that you feel when you sit down. In enclosed spaces, dirty fabric is also where dust mites and allergens concentrate most.
